Vintage Mania!

After Rahr & Sons we headed to Vintage Freak in Bedford for some lovely vinyl finds. Not only do they carry a nice selection of records, they also have some great vintage furniture and home decor.

Saturday at Rahr & Sons

Here in the DFW Metroplex we have a nice selection of local craft breweries that offer weekly tastings along with food trucks & live music. This past Saturday Markus & I decided to check out Rahr & Sons in Fort Worth. Very cool. It's a great time to get out with other beer lovers.
Next on our list: Martin House Brewing Company, and Revolver Brewing. There's also Social Brewing Company but I am unable to locate a website for them, just a Facebook & Twitter page. Also, in Grapevine, aside from several wineries, they now have Grapevine Craft Brewery. Mmmm. Go get your hops on ;)

Happy Father's Day!

Hope everyone had a fantastic Father's Day & a blissful Sunday all around! Our household had my wonderful mother's 59th birthday celebration on Saturday. We're always guaranteed to have a truly great time when we all get together. There's just no way around it. We. Are. Fun.
Sunday was relaxed & just what my husband was wishing for. I grilled us up some burgers, veggie burgers & dogs alongside was some avocado hummus, lemon artichoke hummus, peppers, carrots, celery & some organic white corn chips. Simple but tasty. Mark had both his boys there; Caleb & Christian and Sara-Bear was home for the day so, we had a great family weekend.
We're really big on making our own cards for birthdays, Mother's/Father's day, Christmas, whatever's going on. We feel it's much more personalized & meaningful creating from scratch. This year, my mom got a birthday card storybook. My mom's name is Dari (not pronounced 'dairy' but 'starry' with a 'D') I started out her card with a poem that eventually ran into a couple pages so, I made it into a "Princess Dar" storybook. It was super awesome! Not to toot my own horn but it was pretty darn good. And it got just the response from my mom I was hoping for. She laughed & laughed & laughed. I even illustrated most of it. When it comes to drawing, I'm no artist, but you'll find George Clooney flying in on a cool fish kite swooning my mom as they fly away together......Here's quick peek......

HeHe, my mom absolutely loved this. She has a slight crush on Mr. Clooney ;)

Mark's Father's Day card from me
Yes, my cards are a little juvenile but cute, don't ya think?

What are some creative ways you show your love?

Sleepy weather on Thursday

Happy Thursday! Woke up this morning to a nice shower outside then quickly realized I left a load of laundry out on the line! Needless to say, it's not dry. Into the dryer you go. The Rangers vs Marlins game last night was a blast! We do this at least once a year up in a nice, cool suite provided by my aunt & uncle. Thanks Sue & Michael! We have most of our family there with us so, we have a fantastic time & it couldn't be any better, unless, of course, the rest of the family was there. Final score 0-6, Rangers! Ok, I really don't know a thing about baseball (or football for that matter) but I do enjoy going to games. I guess it's the energy of several thousand people all at the same venue enjoying the same thing. We got a few pics of the Rangers up to bat but mostly of my awesome family!

Nice hit!
Made it to First!

An Night with the Jersey Boys

My fabulous Aunt Sue offered a couple tickets to Sara & I to see Jersey Boys at Bass Performance Hall.
Last time we were there was to see Cathy Rigby as Peter Pan. Please, if you ever get a chance to see Cathy Rigby as Peter Pan, you will not be disappointed! Even if you think you don't care much for theater, take your kids next time Cathy Rigby as Peter Pan comes through town. Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful!

Now, on to my post about Jersey Boys......Excellent! These people have some skill. That's for sure! Of course, we've all heard Four Seasons music so, you know the music's great. I was dancing in my seat, but know I wasn't the only one :) Couldn't help myself! This show is just fun! Now, with children, beware. There is quite a bit of swearing & sexual references (they are Jersey after all). I would rate it a strict PG-13; definitely no one under 13 (personal opinion).
The Boys themselves, WOW! Let me just say, fantastic! Not only did they do a good job casting for similarity in looks but these guys were born to play these rolls. And I really enjoyed how each one told their story of their part in the band. The women were fantastic as well. All that sass & their vocals = outstanding!

Sara & I on our way out to Bass.

A goofy selfie :)
Apparently, the way my phone takes pics makes Sara's head look huge (she says)??
So, she quickly moved out of this pic.

A stunning shot of the ceiling, thanks Bear :)

Seating to our right

What a magical night spent with the Jersey Boys and my Sara-Bear. A perfect evening :))

The Beatles tribute band Me & My Monkey and great BBQ

This week has been out of the norm for us with all the fun activities we've been engaging in since last weekend which, has been allowing me some pretty awesome blogs.  Last night we were able to gather a really great group of peeps out at the Red Barn Bar-B-Que in North Richland Hills to hear the fantastic jams of probably one of the best Beatles tribute bands around, Me & My Monkey.

After dinner some dancing was in order.....

Mark & Rodney

Markus has known Rodney from Me & My Monkey for about 18 years. Rodney was Mark's guitar teacher waaay back in the day. Last night was the first time we've seen this great band perform in about 5 years or so. We'll definitely not ever allow that much time to pass before seeing them again. Wonderful performers, great stage presence, super nice guys & the music, well, you know the music's fantastic! They hold a monthly spot at the Hard Rock in Tulsa, OK and tour all over including the DFW Metroplex. They've even played the legendary Cavern Club in Liverpool, England where The Beatles first began. Please be sure to check out their Concert Calendar for the next performance.

An Evening at Delaney Vineyards

TGIF everyone! Markiss and I had an evening out last night at our local winery, Delaney Vineyards. Every Thursday night Delaney hosts "Rhythm & Wine". The music's always perfectly relaxing and usually something jazzy. Last night they had Chuck Fesperman, a local jazz trumpeter. Great sound! Thumbs up Chuck & crew!

Upon our arrival we decided on their Sauvignon Blanc & Three Daughters as our first tastings. Markiss is not much of a white wine fan so, he decided on a glass of the favored Three Daughters. We casually sip our delicate glasses of fermented grape juice, take in the beauty of the building, and enjoy the easy conversation & tunes.

Here's the story of Three Daughters:

They have beautiful outdoor seating coined the "Crush Pad". Here's the view:

I must give Markiss props for this fantastic shot! Looks like I'm walking on glass.

After Delaney's closes for the night we head on over to Movie Tavern for A Million Ways to Die in the West. If you like Seth MacFarlane, you'll love this movie. We LOL'd through the entire thing!

Have a wonderful & safe weekend everyone!
Happy Friday!

A Beauty to Greet me this Morning

Upon my way through our backyard to remove our clothesline, I noticed a beautiful dragonfly just chillin on the line allowing the breeze to gently sway him side to side. He was so chilled I was able to run into my house grab my camera, realize I left the SD card in the laptop, run back inside, with both dogs at my heals, grab the card then back out to steal a few, or several, candids. He never moved & with his permission, I was able to get very close to grab these shots.....

Thank you Mr. Dragonfly.
Happy Thursday everyone :)

Happy Wednesday!

It's my favorite day of the work week, I love Wednesdays! That started way back when I was working for this company whose payday was Wednesday. So, payday always seemed to come around pretty quickly. I've been working all morning on this blog & learning about the little things like html code. Hmm, this is a little out of my tech league. I normally don't even play in this field, outside of checking my email or "pinning" on Pinterest, does that count? But, it seems to be coming along quite nicely. I am, so far, happy with the results. Just bare with me as some things will be updated to make it easier to browse & locate. Have a wonderful Wednesday!

What's a couple to do?

An unusual night alone last night, my husband & I finally decide on some Thai take-out from Thai Papaya Garden. Me, the delicious Tom Kha with mushrooms (no meat please) & Panang Curry with chicken for Markiss. Mmmm, exactly what I was craving, the soothing, creamy coconut milk soup hit the spot. Some Office re-runs, thanks to Netflix we re-watch as much as we want, and we do, over & over & over again. Can't seem to get enough Michael Scott. Then we're down for the count. Yep, we sure know how to live it up!

No more papers, no more books!

Well, we are officially at the end of the school year and the first day of summer, June 21, is promptly engaging itself into our lives. Seems we've been able to dip into our pool a bit earlier this year than the previous couple years with the water feeling quite comfortable. There's not an actual summer trip planned this year, however, we are planning a couple weekend trips to Austin for camping (yes, we camp outside in the Texas heat) and to see our great friends, the Jeffus', in Fayetteville, AR. What are your plans for the summer?
